When it comes to player development our Ice Operations Director Chris Werstine (Michigan) has been doing it for 15 years here at Aviator Sports. Previously Chris has worked for Detroit Honeybaked (AAA-Youth) as well as Capital Centre and the Metro Jets (Junior) and has Coached Patrick Kane (Chicago) as well as over 50 Division 1 College Players and dozens of Professional Hockey Players!

AVIATOR ATOMS – YOUTH LEARN TO PLAY & LEARN TO SKATE
The Aviator Atoms program the perfect opportunity boys and girls ages 4 to 15 who have never played hockey to learn how to play hockey. This program is a perfect way to progress into the in-house leagues at Aviator. This 10 week class is offered on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons. Children will learn the fundamentals of hockey including skating, passing, shooting and stick handling. All classes are taught by in-house hockey coaches.

Learn to Skate
Here we will go over the very basics of skating including balance, getting up from falls. Players will progress to simple strides and utilizing their skate edges. Progressing on to feeling comfortable accelerating and stopping on their own and utilizing both inside and outside edges to navigate their way around the ice.
Learn to Play
Here we will work on general hockey skills. We focus on the basics of passing, stickhandling, shooting, forward to backward skating, and confidence in skating with a puck on their stick. We recommend all players go through a learn to skate session or are comfortable on their own before signing up for our Learn to Play Program. Full hockey gear is required.

Youth In-House Hockey League
​
Aviator Sports Youth Hockey Program is for players ages 5 to 17. The In-House Hockey Program will consist of 1 practice and 1 game per week. All practices will be 65-minute ice slots and all games will be 60-80 minute ice slots! Each game will be up-tempo with elite coaching from our Aviator Sports professional hockey staff. Boys and girls who were born in the years 1997 through 2010 are eligible for the Youth House League which will encompass Mite through Midget levels. Youth players at any level are welcome to join the house league. All players, regardless of skill or experience, will receive equal playing time.
